Jenn & Rachel: Orcas Island fun

Looking back at 2012, I realized I didn't do a great job of blogging the weddings each weekend. It's hard when we don't get the pictures back right away, because my cell phone pictures just don't really do the day justice.

The brides dancing to their favorite band, Girlyman. Cell phone pics are hard.
So today, I've borrowed pictures from Jenn and Rachel's facebook page so I can show you the amazing weekend we spent on Orcas Island.

All the pictures below are taken by the amazing One Love Photo. John and Heather were so much fun to work with and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to any of you!

Spending the weekend on Orcas Island is amazing. It's a beautiful place, a great escape from the real world - our cell phones didn't even work! Getting to spend the weekend watching two awesome people get hitched, meeting their eclectic and amazing group of friends, hanging with the most wonderful vendors like the staff from Skillet, and bringing the husband along as my assistant ... I have to say this was one of my favorite events EVER. Everything about the weekend was an adventure that is etched in the happy place of my brain.

Editors note: How AWESOME is that picture ^. I die!

There are so many moments that I want to remember, but mostly, as always, it's the feeling of love that I take away. This was a unique group of people, who took a whole weekend, flew from around the country and world, drove hours to take a long, beautiful ferry ride; some of them camped, some of them stayed in hotels, but they were all ready to celebrate this love and do whatever they could to make it the most awesome weekend ever!

The venue was beautiful, on acres of land, with a creek streaming through, in the middle of Moran State Park. But the reception ... holy awesome!! The brides flew their favorite band, Girlyman, out from Georgia for the weekend. They were so great, and personalized their set to Jenn and Rachel. The whole band was so much fun to get to know, and I will always chuckle at the memory of them learning Hava Nagila in 45 minutes via YouTube videos so that the brides could do this:

It was a beautiful, fun, amazing weekend that brought a lot of different groups of people together. Thank you, Jenn and Rachel, so much, for letting me be part of this weekend. You will forever be ranked in the top tier of my weddings for all the adventures and love!!

Cheers to these two beautiful ladies. For more of their wedding awesomeness, visit their album on my facebook page.

Evil Queen inspiration board

One of my favorite people is turning 40 this coming year and we are throwing an awesome party to celebrate. Because we don't do things halfway, it's going to be a tented, catered affair on her sports court with a DJ, a photo booth, and of course, costumes. More on the party later. Today, let's talk attire.

The theme for the night is Disney - everyone is to come in their favorite costume, and they are to put some thought into it. I want to share my inspiration board, because I am obsessing over it lately. I am going as the Evil Queen from Snow White.

But I'm putting my own special twist on the costume. Instead of the above picture, I am using the below one for my inspiration.

Yay!! I'm so excited! I have been poking around ebay, pinterest, and etsy and have come up with some pretty awesome ideas. Trying to piece this together on a very strict budget will be a challenge, but I think I've found some great pieces.

For my attire, I'm bidding on these items on ebay (cross your fingers, please!):

The dress will need a little work, but I know a seamstress or two that can help me whore it up a bit. I am loving the cloak, it's the second one I've bid on (the first one went over my allotted amount).

And how about these, for the accessories?

I'm pretty set on the clothes, but still playing around with the accessories. Any suggestions?
